Chicken Mulakittathu

Ingredients

1) Chicken – 1 ( cut in to pieces)
2) Big onion – 2 chopped very finely
3) Tomato – 2 chopped finely
4) Shallots – ½ cup (peeled & cut in to small pieces.)
5) Green chilly – 2
6) Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
7) Chilly powder – 1 table spoon
8) Garam masala – 2 teaspoon
9) Garlic cloves – 4 nos
10) Ginger – 1” piece
11) Water – 1 cup
12) Salt – to taste
13) Curry leaves

For Seasoning

1) Dry chilly – 1-2 nos. ( Broken)
2) Mustard seeds – 1 ½ teaspoon
3) Shallots – 6 nos ( chopped)
4) Curry leaves – As required
5) Oil – 1-2 table soon

Method

Grind garlic & ginger, grind or chop the shallots finely, then mix all the ingredients together with chicken and 1 cup of water, put in slow fire until chicken is done. (Add more water – if necessary)

Then heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds then add broken dry chilly, chopped shallots and curry leaves one by one and sauté until the shallot becomes golden brown then pour this seasoning over the chicken curry.

  1. I just put this to cook on the stove. Am little worried because the recipe does not require the ground ingredients or onions to be sauted. Won't the masala taste raw in the curry?

  2. I'm sorry to say the curry tasted of raw masala just as i feared it would.
