How to make natholi (Anchovies )Dry Thoran
Ingredients
1) Netholi – ½ Kg
2) Tomato -1 no. (Big size- Chopped)
3) Tamarind juice – 1 ½ teaspoon ( optional)
4) Big onion – 1 No (Big size- Chopped)
5) Grated coconut – 1 cup
6) Shallot – 5-6 nos. ( chopped)
7) Garlic – 1 clove ( chopped)
8) Cumin seeds- 1 pinch
9) Turmeric powder- 2 pinch
10) Chilly Powder – 1 ½ teaspoon
11) Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
12) Oil – 2-3 table spoon
13) Mustard seeds- 1 ½ teaspoon
14) Curry leaves – As required
Method
Clean the fish (Cut off/pinch off the head, tail and remove inner side’s bones) then keep aside to drain the water. Then crush 5- 11 ingredients.
Heat a pan with oil and splutter the mustard seeds then add chopped big onion and sauté until ¾ done then add netholi, salt, curry leaves & chopped tomato and cook covered for about 3 minutes with out water ( netholi itself produce water). Then open the lid and sauté the mix until all most the water evaporates then add the coconut mix then again sauté for few minutes until all the water content evaporate completely.
Tried your netholi thoran....Excellent came out well. Normally I'm not buying this netholi due to small bones but this receipe is excellent to be followed. My husband and son both liked it.
