Achappam Recipe


1) Rice flour – 200 gm
2) Maida – 150 gm3) Eggs-
3 - 4 nos.
4) Fresh Coconut Milk – 2 cups. (You can use coconut powder also)
5) Sugar – 10- 12 table spoon.
6) Black sesame seeds- 2 ½ table spoon
7) Salt – 1 pinch
8) Vanilla essence (optional- ½ tea spoon
9) Oil – to fry


Take a bowl and add eggs & sugar then beat well and keep aside. Take another bowl and put flour, coconut milk, salt and vanilla essence and mix well then add the beaten eggs and black sesame seeds to the batter and mix well again. (Please adjust the sugar at this stage as of your choice)Heat oil in a wok, then put achappam mould in the very hot oil, then dip this mould in to the batter and again put in the hot oil for 2 seconds and shake the mould slowly, the achappam will fall into the oil from the mould. Turn over the achappam carefully to fry the other side also. Once fried, remove from heat and drain the excess oil on clean paper towels. Store the achappam in an air tight container and enjoy with hot tea as an evening snack.
