Chakkakuru – Mangga Curry (Jackfruit seed- Raw mango Curry)




How to make Chakkakuru- Mangga curry (jackfruit seed & raw mango Curry)

Ingredients

1) Jackfruit seeds (chakkakuru) – 7- 8 nos. ( Cleaned and chopped)
2) Spinach stems- 5- 8 stems ( optional) – Chopped 1” pieces)
3) Drumstick tender – 1 no. ( Cut into 3 inch pieces)
4) Raw mango – 1 nos. ( chopped in to 4 pieces)
5) Shallots – 5 nos. ( Chopped in to 2 pieces)
6) Fresh Grated coconut- ¾ cup.
7) Green chilly – 3 nos.
8) Turmeric power – 2 pinches
9) Cumin seeds( Jeerakam) – 1 pinch
10) Garlic pod – ½ piece
11) Shallots – 2-3 nos.
12) Salt – to taste.
13) Water – As required

For seasoning

1) Dry Chilly – 1-2 nos ( broken)
2) Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon
3) Shallots – 6 nos ( chopped finely)
4) Curry levees - As required
5) Oil – 1-2 table spoon

Method

Grind finely the ingredients 6-11 using little water and keep aside.

In a pan cook jackfruit seeds, drumstick, mango, spinach stem, salt and shallots with 2 cups of water (medium heat). Mash the mango pieces using the spatula once it done.


Then add the coconut mix very slowly to the curry and stir contentiously without allowing to boil until steam start rising. Remove from fire immediately and stir occasionally till cool and Then heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds then add broken dry chilly, chopped shallots and curry leaves one by one and sauté until the shallot becomes golden brown then pour this seasoning over the curry. Serve the curry with Rice.
