1) Chan Dal – 1Cup
2) Urud Dal – 1 Cup
3) Basmati Rice – ¾ Cup
4) Red chilly (whole) – 15 -20 nos.
5) Pepper Corns – 1 ½ Table spoon
6) Curry leaves – Few
7) Asafoetida – ½ table spoon
8) Salt – As required.
In a pan dry roast the red chilly for about 1 minute then add chana dal and fry without oil until colour changes lightly, then immediately add rice and sauté for few minutes, finally add pepper corns, Urdu dal and curry leaves and fry until the Urdu dal changes light brown and remove the pan from the fire and add asafoetida and salt. Let cool the ingredients to room temperature. Powder the above ingredients in a grinder. Store the powder in a clean jar.Put some melted ghee or oil of your choice into this powder and have it with idly’s dose or even with plain rice.
